Why Routine Checkups Matter
Most serious dental problems are cheaper, easier, and less painful when caught early.
It's tempting to skip the dentist when nothing hurts. But pain is usually a late signal — by the time a tooth aches, a small, inexpensive problem has often become a large, expensive one.
What a checkup actually catches
Routine visits find early decay, gum disease, cracked fillings, and — importantly — oral cancer, which is highly treatable when found early. A cleaning also removes buildup that brushing can't.
Most people do well with a visit every six months, though your dentist may recommend a different interval based on your history.
The independent advantage
When you see the same dentist over time, they notice subtle changes from visit to visit. That continuity — a hallmark of independent practices — is one of the most underrated parts of good dental care.
